Tasting Notes
The nose is fine with initial almond, apricot and white peach aromatics that develop to biscuit yeast characters of hot buttered toast and a hint of licorice root. The palate is elegant, packed with citrus and mineral characters and a beautifully balanced, refreshingly dry finish.
The 2016 Laverique continues our tradition of producing a wonderfully elegant sparkling wine to be enjoyed on all occasions.
Winemakers Notes
The 2016 Laverique Méthode Traditionelle is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay from the Waipara Valley. The fruit was harvested from the Glasnevin vineyard in mid March 2016 and was lightly pressed before being fermented in stainless steel tanks. After a year in tank the wine was bottled in January 2017 and underwent traditional secondary fermentation in the bottle. After 5 years on yeast lees the wine was disgorged in June 2022.
